Terracotta: An Idea Choice for Fire-resistant Building Material
Today ensuring your select building materials that meet fire resistance standards is crucial. Not only because of the fire spreading issue, but also considering the toxic smoke which might be produced by combustible building materials.
In order to well control the above issue, many countries have executed their fire safety level for building products, for example:
- NFPA 285 (a fire test standard that measures the flammability characteristics of modern exterior wall assemblies)
- BS EN 13501–1 fire classification of construction products and building elements
- BS476- Part 6 & 7 and BS 8414
Firing under the temperature of over 1200°C，terracotta itself is “born” with non-combustible performance (rank Class A1), and works as idea choice for building material.
